Emotion Overload

Tonight has been emotion filled...I realized at 5pm tonight that it is only 48 hours until I leave for Michigan!!!  I then checked my phone and had a voicemail from my Aunt Emma.  I have not talked to her since my dad, her brother died.  I was so happy to hear from her because I wasn't sure how to get in touch with her.  She is still in Arizona and found out my cousin is in Breckenridge, CO.  She was actually there when I visited there back 3 years ago, wish I had known.  I also found out my grandpa from my dad's side is still alive at 93 in Honduras.  I have never met him, but it was wonderful to know I still have a grandparent alive.  I also found out he has had many daughters so I have more aunts also!  Well packing is going well.  I hope to be basically ready tomorrow night so we can leave right away on Thursday evening!!!  I didn't sleep well last night at all so I need to head that way.

I meant to do some posting while I was on the West side of the Big Horn Mountains, but I truly was busy!  I am trying to get invoices done so I can go to Michigan this Thursday night!  I feel that I didn't do as bad as I could have with going out of town.  I didn't do structured work outs but I did push a FULL cart through Costco!  I was complimented that I fit so much into a regular cart, not a flat bed, which is what I left with!  A guy said I should stack his hay for him and I told him I am good at that as well.  I was thrilled it was time to buy summer t-shirts from Old Navy and it happened to be the weekend they were on sale so I was able to get any color I want for cheap!  I also picked up a tube top dress, not exactly the right look for me, but for mowing the grass I think it will be perfect and then I can avoid tan lines on my shoulders.  This will help me with my wedding dress come that time!

Well I just wanted to update that I have not been gone and forgetting about my new goals I set.  I do need to be a little lax with them since I have so much going on, but I am still focusing!

My friend told me today she is getting back on track and needs someone to hold herself accountable.  Well I need that.  What I plan to do this week is track everything and share with you and her again!  I think that if we both have to produce complete weeks of tracking to each other than that would help me make me do it.  I have the personality that I hate to disappoint and so this would be great for me.  I think the weather is going to get better from here on out this week and I am going to go for bike rides and run/walks again.  I think I am going to restart C25K again but maybe not from week 1 because I know I can handle that easily...but maybe week 3.

So taking from my friend Tana I am going to set some goals and stick with them.

1) Blog daily.  If I am doing my weight loss plan correctly I should have something to tell you everyday.  Only if I am away from a computer I may not blog, but I will check on blogging from my phone since I know I can!

2) Track food/activity daily.  I will post on here my trackers like before and check in with my friend and swap with her so we can see how each other is doing.

3) Get active at least 5 days a week.  Even if only for a 30 min walk.  DO SOMETHING ACTIVE!

4) Ab exercises at least 4 days a week.

5) Leg/Butt exercises at least 3 days a week.

Long-term goals

1) Bike 20 - 30 miles 3 times per week.  I will get this done by increasing slowly from 7 miles.

2) Run a complete 5k in less than 40 mins.  (right now I can't run the entire time outside.  I have done 2 miles steady, but that was once.  Must be able to do it every time so I can train for more distance)

3) Wear my new running skirt for exercise (I can get it on right now, but it doesn't fit well.)

4) Buy another pair of jeans in the next size lower and a new belt!

5) Shop for a new wedding dress (I really want mine to be too big for me because I lost enough weight)

I just printed these out and will keep them with me!  I will let you know how I do on them day to day in my daily blog!  Let me know if have any suggestions for things that may work better for me or ideas to make it easier or more fun!  lol

No ride...but still got a workout!

Today was a wonderful day.  Of course I spent most of it in my office and working!  :(  I had planned on going home and taking my bike for a nice ride and getting some wind in my hair.  However, they are saying 70-80% chance of rain tomorrow.  With my schedule of vacations and what I need to get done I was forced to mow my lawn.  This turned out to be a great workout.  It was very thick and then I had to rake to clean it all up.  I also put down some more fertilizer because I wouldn't want it to slow down on growing (HA).  But I sure do love how pretty and green it is right now :)  I'll have to see what the weather really does tomorrow and go from there and what I may do for some exercise.

I am off to bed a little early tonight.  I didn't get so much last night and it really showed today.  However, I did get a lot done all things considered. :)

A little piece of sunshine...

That is all I am for...a little piece of sunshine!  By the time the day was getting nicer I didn't want to do much.  I did get some cleaning done around the house and on the Escape.  My prepping for vacations is going well.  I hope to do some riding at least this week, but need to do some running too if at all possible.  I was not good with my eating this weekend and I HAVE to get this under control.  I know I can do it, it's just something I have to do just DO!

Well i just wanted to check in today.  Have a great night!

No bike race

Today the rain refused to give up!  When I woke up this morning it wasn't raining, but by the time I took my bike outside to hook it up it was sprinkling.  As we drove towards Gillette it just rained harder and harder.  When we finally got there and weren't actually driving it didn't seem too bad, but then we got out to air up tires on the Escape and it was raining hard enough that it was miserable.  I decided right then and there it wasn't worth it to me to be soaked and freezing.  We still had other errands to do after I was riding.  So instead we just did a little garage saling and then a few errands.  This weather has to get better one of these days!

That is all for my excitement today...not really exciting at all!  I am going to work on some of my prep for vacations and go from there.  Have a great night :)

drink & be merry!

Right now I am drinking Miami's...they are making me merry!  Got to love that!  I probably should have gone for a bike ride (it wasn't raining and it was early enough) but I decided I wanted to go for beers.  What can I say...I love my social life!  Friday's are my day to let loose.  And let loose I did...Now I am at home and drinking more!  It should make for an interesting bike ride in the morning.  I attached my bike rack on my Escape tonight, so all I have to do is put my bike on in the morning :)  I am really excited about this race.  Hoping it doesn't rain in the morning!

Well back to drinking...I just wanted to check in :)

I'll share the results from the morning tomorrow!!

Rainy days

It has been raining for 3 days now...they are calling for my rain tomorrow and next week.  I feel like we are going to float away soon!  It is neat to watch the lake rise though and take a new shape every day.  The trees have finally started to bud so it will be green soon...the grass is very green too!  Love spring and all the change.  Ready for a little warmth and it will be perfect.  Really glad all this rain isn't snow though...we would be really buried if that were the case!

I have been working on all of my prep for vacations slowly.  Today I got to sleep in and then only working a short day!  It is perfect because I will run around town and get a lot of errands done in the afternoon now :)  I have a bike race scheduled for tomorrow and I plan on going rain or shine.  John actually asked me this morning if I had something scheduled this weekend and that was probably why it has been raining so much!  HA...thanks honey!  It's not as if the rain will hurt me so I will ride either way!  I am actually excited about it.  I have never rode a bike race before only a long distance ride for fun.

Well off to get some work done before my short day ends!

TOO Busy...

With only 16 days until I leave for Michigan I am too busy!  I have so much to do to be ready at work and at home.  I have been struggling with exercise and eating right because of it.  I know I should still keep my routine but I need to bank as many hours as I can and get as much done as I can between now and when I leave.  The weather has not been ideal and that does not help motivate me.

Monday night the wind was blowing so bad I just fought the steering wheel the whole way home.  I could not imagine running or biking in the wind.  Yesterday and today the weather was threatening rain and raining off and on.  I have enough at work right now that I didn't need to take the chance on the weather.  If the weather can get better I hope to get in a bike ride sometime this week.  I have a bike race on Saturday and even if I don't ride between now and then I will be fine to do's only 6.2 miles.

I have tried not to go crazy with eating, but I have had some not so great meals from take out this week and things I have cooked at home.  Don't get me wrong, I did better than I could have.  I will keep trying to do my best and not eat too bad.  I will also try to track more and this should really help.  I know it works I just slack off when I get busy.

Well since I have so much to do I am off of here and going to work on some prep for vacation time.  I only have this weekend at home, then Memorial Day weekend we are going to Boysen for some fishing I hope then the following one is off to Michigan.  Have to take advantage of every moment between now and then and get as much done as possible before the very end so I don't over stress too much :)  John is working as well and so he will be almost too busy to help me, but I know he will if I ask!  Alright off I go to make at least some lists to stay focused :)

Forgot to mention that I did my weigh in and I am up, but that was to be expected after the week I have had.  I also researched a 5k to do while I am in Michigan and I plan on running in the Hartford Strawberry Festival race!  Hopefully my friend Tana can join me.  We have both been blogging and she just completed her first 5k a couple of weeks ago!  It would be awesome to run with someone that has similar goals :)

I went to go run the first race of the "Feet Don't Fail Me Now" series yesterday.  I didn't have one of the printed brochures, but apparently that is the only method of knowing what time the races start and where they are located!  Well anyways We left Pine Haven to be there by 8-8:15am figuring it probably began at 9am like the others I have been signing up for and looking to register for.  I was wrong, however.  It started like at least an hour before we got there.  Had I realized that I could have planned to be up earlier, or decided that was not the race for me and not gotten up so early!  We ended up checking on numerous garage sales instead though.  I was still a little tender so maybe it was meant to be that I wouldn't run it.  The next one is on Thursday, June 2nd and is only 2 miles.  I am going to do the bike ride though on May 21st.  It is only 6.2 miles but that is perfect for me right now :)  My goal is to get up to 20+ miles approximately 3-5 times per week!  I really do enjoy riding my bike.  I hope to get out there today after I get the house cleaned up and the yard mowed!

My eating has been ok, always seems like I can be better.  I just try to be aware of all that I am eating.  Mindless eating really kicks my butt.  I need to do better at writing it all down too!  That is always a challenge, but when I do, I know I do so much better.

Well I am off to go clean the house while it warms up a little outside!

Second 5K this week

Today I am running my second 5K this week!  The sun is shining, but it is cold.  My goal is once again to finish!!  That alone makes me very happy!  I will post results when I get home later.  My time on the 5k from Thursday night was 44:04.  I heard the course was actually a little longer than 3.1 miles so I was pretty pleased with my time.  I did run the majority of that race :)  I am getting better with each race.  I took yesterday as a total rest day.  Hoping this helps me be prepared for today :)

I'll keep you posted when I get back.

Prep for next race

Today I got out to do my run/walk....turned out to be a 2 mile run with only a short warm-up/cool down walk!!!  I felt really good through the entire thing and it made me think I really may be able to run the entire race tomorrow night!  I also did 12 min miles so I maintained my speed perfectly!

I had planned on biking when I got home, but when I got here it was raining :(  I was actually sad about this, but it's ok, I was able to get the kitchen cleaned up and did make a real dinner for once!

Tomorrow I plan on going for a walk because they are turning off our power to the shop for about and hour to 90 mins.  I am only walking because I have the run later, but I don't really want to sit around the shop without any power!  We are going to transfer the phones to mine and I can still take calls and get back to people in the afternoon this way!

Well I am off to bed early tonight!

I almost forgot...I lost the 2 lbs I had gained over the past two weeks and lost another .4 lb!!!  This brings my total now to 29 lbs lost!!!  :)

My bike is making me feel so great!  Today I decided I must push myself.  If I can't run too far outside I know I can ride!  I did 7 miles tonight and it was amazing.  I did the big hill in Pine Haven and it tried to kick my butt, however I did not let this happen!  I refused to give up and at the top of the hill I was very proud of myself.  At this point I still had 4 miles to go!  The rest of the ride was great and then I got to come back down the big hill at a blazing speed.  When I get the computer working on my bike I will know how fast I was going!  I did the entire ride in 40 minutes!

Tomorrow I plan on run/walking before weigh in at lunch.  I do plan on a bike ride after work also, but will have to see how I feel to determine how far I ride.  I have to run my 5K Thursday night and another on Saturday morning so I don't want to overdo it, but I think I will have at least 3-5 miles in my legs!!!!

I just wanted to post a quickie before bed!  Good Night friends!!!

Friday night activities!

Yesterday I had too much to do at work to be able to leave and go for my walk/run.  I was disappointed but I knew what I needed to do for work and I got it done!  I didn't have a bike ride planned for last night either because it is my night to go out and have beers at the local bar!  I enjoyed myself all night long and instead of working out in the usual way I just danced my butt off!  We were all having so much fun singing and dancing!  John got home around 8pm so he was there and that just made me so happy!

Today I thought about going for a bike ride and I still could easily.  I had to leave for a short bit to get stuff for my Kentucky Derby hat!  I bought a floppy black hat and glued on flowers!  It looks good I think :)  I will wear a white dress I have with little blue flowers on it.  I think it will work well to get the look I am going for :)

Since I went out drinking last night I didn't eat much, and so far today I have been good.  Enjoying cottage cheese with strawberries right now!  We will head down to the party in about an hour and a half!  I have my horse picked out, Dialed In #8 and I also like #14 Shackleford.  Hopefully I win some money :)

Well that is all that is happening in my neck of the woods.  Sending lots of good luck wishes to my friend who is running her first 5K this weekend!  I know she is going to do great and look forward to hearing all about it!

I have missed my bike

I did not realize how much I have missed riding over the years.  6 years ago when I was on my major exercise kick I was riding a few times a week, both mountain biking and road riding.  Over this past week and riding my road bike I realized how awesome it really makes me feel.  It is so easy to put in the miles on that bike too.  I did 5+ today and it was like nothing.  I hope to get out and keep going farther and farther!

I did walk today also.  I only walked because I was pretty sore from all of my activity yesterday.  We'll see how I feel tomorrow and hopefully get in some running time.  The intervals are really helping me acclimate to running outdoors.  Sometimes I just wish I could hop on the treadmill, but I really do love the sunshine :)  I hope to do better at my next 5K a week from today and so I will keep training and get up to speed!!

I have still been tracking better so I think that is really helping me.  I can feel the positivity coming from my focus on my health again!  That really helps me stay happier.  Also I think the warmth of the sunshine is starting to help as well.  It has still been cool when I get out to run or ride, but overall the sun warms my heart :)

I am off to bed.  I have not been getting enough sleep and been stressed at work because it is finally getting a little crazier!  So I try to be asleep by 9:30 every night.  Good Night

No loss, but big gain!

I know my title sounds like I gained a bunch of weight, but I didn't!  I did gain another .4 bring my total gain for the past two weeks to a meager 2 lbs.  I feel this is not bad considering how off track I had been!  I wasn't sure what todays weigh in would bring either.  I was a little nervous, but I still went.  I have not been able to quit no matter what I have done.

The second half of my title refers to my exercising this week.  I have been going to the park every day.  I know it's only been three days, but that is a huge improvement over the past month.  Also I have taken a bike ride after work on Monday and Wednesday!  In addition, I did my ab workout on Monday and will do again when I get off of here and did the butt workout yesterday.  I am thinking I should pick up a couple of 5 or 10 lb weights and do the arm workout as well.  Right now I just follow along through the set once and I am sore.  They all consist of 10 exercises for 30 seconds.  By the end I am pooped!  I hope to work out to multiple times through the sets!  As of right now though I am just happy getting through them once and being able to move the next day.  They really do work me over!

My eating has been good.  I have been tracking at work well and keeping that in my planer so it is easy to see the info.  While at home I have ate well and not splurged really.  I have found a new favorite dessert and look forward to trying another variation.  Right now I just cut up a banana, drizzle it with sugar free chocolate syrup, cut up strawberries, sprinkle with a little sugar and top with a drizzle of the sugar free chocolate syrup, then top with whip cream!  It tastes like a banana split only healthy!  :)  I am going to try and make another dessert that will be similar but different :)  I will share how that goes as well :)  Loving that the fruits seem to be getting better every time I buy them :)  Makes it so much easier to stay on track!

Thanks to my success so far this week I feel much better about myself.  I hope to keep it up and continue my weigh loss journey!  Thank you to all my friends and family for the support!  I really could not do this without you as well.  I know it has to come from within me, but without you to listen and lend a helping hand I don't think I could do this as successfully.

It's a new month!

Today I have started over again.  Sometimes I think I need to do this just to stay fresh, however, this time it's just because I have not been doing anything so well.  I have been depressed, even if it doesn't show on the outside I was feeling it on the inside.  Between that and my stress with increased hours at work and John not being home I have not been following my plan well or exercising.  I have done my 5K's and I am happy I did not say no to these.  I know what I need to do and today I started my writing down what I ate and scheduling in exercise time at 10:30 every morning this week.  The weather is supposed to be better so this should help!  I really hope that by the 12th I will be ready for my next 5K and do even better :)

I would chat longer, but I think I am going to hop on my bicycle and take a little cruise around the neighborhood.  Nothing too crazy but just to get out and keep up with the exercise!

Another one under my belt!

Yesterday was a terrible day for a 5k, but I did not let that stop me from going and completing it!  I took Molly with me thinking this would be nice, but because it was so wet she just got soaked and didn't have much motivation :(  I really felt like I was dragging her a lot of the time but we still both finished :)  My first race on April 19th I completed in 44:30, yesterdays race was 43:33!  Basically 1 whole minute shaved off and I know I walked a lot.  However, even due to all of my walking I really did try and run a little faster when I would run!  I also did tell myself that since I could run in the crappy weather for a race that I need to do that regularly.  I can't use it as an excuse to not run normally!  I haven't completely written off today yet, but I am a little sore right now.  I did go out and get my yard mowed and fertilized.  Also did a little house cleaning and laundry.

I can't say I have been good about snacking today :(  I have been watching some tv and that always causes me to want to snack.  I have a salad planned for dinner :)  I am quite excited about it!

I have thought that I need to re-do my measurements.  It has been a while since my last check-up.  I did get my new workout pants from You really should check them out if you have never heard of them.  I love the capris.  While I was down in Colorado I did try on a couple of the skirts and over time I could see myself getting them as well.  Right now I just felt way too self conscious and it felt like it sat low on my hips and as soon as I would have gone to do any physical activity I would have been pulling it up constantly.  Thankfully my capris are not like that at all and they make me feel cute :)

Well I am back to searching for my 5k's in the area.  Just wanted to fill you in on my progress.  I know my next one is scheduled for sure on May 12th at 6pm.  But if I can find one for Mother's Day weekend I may do one then as well!  Just keeping my fingers crossed for some nicer weather to come this way!!!
